Gülay Metivier - President

Gulay MetivierGülay is graduated from the department of Science Education, Faculty of Education, Middle East Technical University, METU, in 1985 as the first ranked student at both departmental and faculty levels.

She moved to Canada in 1987 and studied in the Masters Program at the Department of Special Education, the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto. A few years later she returned to Turkey and she worked at Marmara Private Educational Institutions as Science/Chemistry teacher and head of Science department for eight years. Throughout her teaching career, she has led many national and international projects in which the school was honored and awarded. She has participated in various educational seminars and conferences for both her professional and school development. She has also been involved in volunteer environmental projects with the civil society organizations like TEMA, DHKD (The Society for the Protection of Nature). She was one of the volunteer science teachers in the project of the development of elementary science curriculum for the Ministry of Education in Turkey. Gülay is a well respected and liked teacher among her colloquies and students and therefore has been able to establish good and permanent relationships with them.

In 2002, she moved back to Canada which she considers it as her second home. A few months later, she became a certified teacher by receiving the Ontario Teaching Certificate from the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT). Since then she has been working as a Science/Chemistry teacher, tutor and educational consultant for students ranging from middle school to university levels in the Greater Toronto Area. In addition, because of her personal interest in the area of Adult Education, she completed the Certificate in Adult Training and Development program at OISE, University of Toronto. Gülay is married and has got two sons studying at the university. She has known as a very friendly and reliable person with a colorful and energetic personality among her colloquies and friends.
